Leftists Search Desperately for 'Racists' at Restoring Honor Rally

William Jacobson has been covering this angle, and he notes:
Think Progress tried really, really hard to cover the Restoring Honor rally with photographers and videographers. I don't think it is a stretch to think that Think Progress was hoping beyond hope that it would find a sign or something else that would permit it to portray the rally as racist.
And Robert Stacy McCain has been getting good laughs out of the left's efforts to smear tea partiers as "racist." Turns out Rachel Maddow apparently found evidence of "racism" in one of the event's program guides, which "advised visitors to stick to the touristy parts of town." But it turns out the program guide was written by a Democrat, Bruce Majors, who's been a major contributor to Democratic candidates, including Howard Dean and John Kerry. And checking over at Charles Johnson's Twitter page, these dolts are working overtime to find "racist" posters at the rally and indications of "tea party racism" in Google searches. Google searches? And here's the brilliant analysis: "Here's a scary thought: It's easier to be a racist in America today than it's been in quite some time." Yeah, okay. Desperate much?

And reading AP's major report on the event this morning we find this at the lede:

Conservative commentator Glenn Beck and tea party champion Sarah Palin appealed Saturday to a vast, predominantly white crowd on the National Mall to help restore traditional American values and honor Martin Luther King's message. Civil rights leaders who accused the group of hijacking King's legacy held their own rally and march.
Civil rights leaders? Well, the writers neglected to mention Alveda King, the niece of the slain civil rights leader, until the very last paragraph of the article.

Perhaps the reporters might have spent a bit more time on the ground, talking with actual tea partiers in attendance. It looks like folks are having a little problem with the tiresome "tea party racism" meme. My good friend
Skye at Midnight Blue was on the scene, with reports here and here:

The AP article does note that the event signaled a "show of strength" for the movement. And that's exactly what's giving radical leftists fits of apoplexy.

Martin Luther King would have been Proud of the Restoring Honor rally."

And "

in the future - if the left has its way - no group will be allowed to organize, let alone demonstrate if its membership doesn't contain the correct % of mandated quotas by race and sexual orientation.

unless the group is leftist.

then it can be all black or all homo or all any officially recognized minority - which of course must exclude jews and asians.

I'm shocked that Reps Cleaver, Lewis and Carson didn't make an appearance and invent a racial incident.

Now that they don't have Mr. Bush to kick around anymore, they have to switch subjects ... but the M.O. of the Re-, er, Progressives remains the same ...

Strain strain strain ... strain those gnats!
Then fling 'em out, see if they'll stick
from wherever you're at ...
As you swallow camels of dysfunction
'Till your belly's fat ...
Strain strain strain ... strain those gnats!

Why aren't environmental rallies described as "mostly white"? If you've ever gone to one, you'll notice that they're about as diverse as a Klan rally.

This is when you know that JournoList has just morphed to another list. When one reads or sees demonstrated the mewling and dissembling of the MSM one could not be faulted for believing they were written by the same person and then slightly adjusted by the person whose name appears at the top. A sort of "circle jerk" plagiarism.
It is somewhat like reading your local paper and noticing a number of articles that are suspiciously like something you just read in an MSM outlet. Different names, same material. It does seem like the Left is populated by the real "mind numbed robots" just regurgitating the same comments in a rote manner. Remove the ability to go to the playbook and they are left with nothing more than a maxed out "race," you fill in the blank, card. A truly sad commentary on the credibility of the Left and their scribblers. "Familiarity breeds contempt" and rightly so.

Dems are racist and sexist, evidently, and see the world through that prism. At the counter-rally, Sharpton was so sure he knew what we were up to. But when we saw some of their signs later in the day to "free" some person we'd never heard of, I wondered whether Al had ever rallied to "free" a white person. Or a woman from the Progressives' sterotyping of what she must be? How about "freeing" America again?

My traveling companion laughed at one point in the program, turned to me and said, "I think I hear progressive heads exploding across America this morning."

Skye, wonderful photo of those three men!

Nobody excludes minorities from such events. They are always welcome. So why don't they show up? They self-exclude.

That says a lot more about them than about the people attending the rally, don't you think?

Methinks they doth protest too much.

Yes, the fact that Glenn Beck and his ilk can go for an entire three hours without explicitly calling for segregation and lynching in a forum they know is widely televised and recorded does tend to prove that they ain't racist.

The left is now not just morally bankrupt, but intellectually so, as well.

They have no other way to defend the communist policies of the far-left and it's groomed from God-knows-where rubber-stamp robotic POTUS, so they have to pull out the entire warehouse of stored up race cards, in the hopes of swaying the moochers, leeches and ticks to their side.

Somehow I just don't think offending (dare I say pissing off) 70% +/- of the US population is going to help them much come November.
