Obama's Malaise

At CNN, "Nearly three-fourths say recession not over" (via Glenn Reynolds and Memeorandum):

Obama

Economic experts may believe the recession is over, but try telling that to the public.

Seventy-four percent of Americans believe the economy is still in a recession, according to a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll. Only 25 percent think the downturn is over.

One-third of Americans say the recession is serious, while another 29 percent characterize it as moderate ....

Administration officials, while sounding guardedly optimistic about overall trends, have repeatedly expressed concern for those impacted by the sluggish economy.

"Obviously, for the millions of people who are still out of work, people who have seen their home values decline, people who are struggling to pay the bills day to day, [the recession is] still very real for them," President Barack Obama said last week.

Yeah, the opinion of the masses-- about half of whom are stupid enough to believe in creationism rather than accept evolution--really means more than what economic reports reveal. Of course no one gives a crap about "leading indictators"; they care about themselves.

It's fair to ask the masses what they want. Asking them what they believe is futile. Look how many people out there can simultaneously accuse Obama of being a Musim sympathizer and a crazy Christian advocate at the same time. America is full of fat people who eat and McDonald's every day and can't make the connection and more readily than they can distinguish a mosque from a multifaith community center. They like to get drunk and watch loud cars drive in circles for "sport." America is a nation of 'tards.

Well at least the commenter "Idiot America" is almost aptly named. He just has to remove America and it fits nicely. What utter bilge posited by a person who is the perfect description of retard.
It is interesting that all those ivy league academic "experts" are running back to academe after they made a mess out of every thing.

I'm sorry you lack an appreciation of irony Dennis, and most likely wouldn't understand it even were it explained to you in painstaking detail.

I couldn't help but notice that thanks to some combination of evasion or comprehension deficits, you did not address my point which is that what people "believe" about something very often means diddlysquat. It means that the core votership of America (i.e., idiots) may be tricked into thinking that things are different from what they are, which is important from a functional standpoint but not from an epistemological one. And hey, what do you think of the fact that 2/3 of Americans think that the government should play *more* of a role in health care, not less? Looks like it's not just the Loony Left wanting a part of the UHC gravy train, eh?

Please stay in the shallow end so the big kids can make real conversational waves Dennis. Thanks.
